My name is Nicolette. I’m a Senior English major and Studio Art minor. I am drawn to stories that engage with points of connection – of unapologetically raw moments of honesty and vulnerability. I savor narratives where seemingly mundane points of time, pivot to form consequential life lessons and experiences, where characters rediscover themselves and how they interact with the world. Engaging in texts lead me to discover things about myself, without feeling as though I would have derived at such a view on my own. I’ve become fascinated with how human connection transcends past words on a page, where the narrator and audience can connect in ways that we are able to interact during human-to-human contact.
I appreciate ways in which artists, including writers, can turn a visceral feeling that we may all share as humans, in one form or another, and translate that into something tangible. I hope to be able to do the same at some point in the future.
